Toyota Celica Convertible Concept

Rod Millen "Ultimate Celica" Concept
Introduced around the time of the new Celica the "Ultimate Celica" was designed to peek interest in the then new 2000 Celica. To put it simply the Ultimate Celica was a $500,000 concept car. The engine and driveline were lifted from the 6th generation GT4 and a redesigned 7th generation body was put on top. Powering the Ultimate Celica is an over bored 3S-GTE with a Garrett turbocharger putting out just under 500 HP. Unfortunately, the car seems more show than go as tests conducted by various magazines showed less than stellar acceleration times. There were also rumors that the car was/is extremely fragile and that it may have actually been built as all show and no go...(Only Rod Millen knows for sure) Unfortunately, as Toyota has no interest in WRC, a GT-4 model, such as the Ultimate Celica is not likely to reappear any time in the foreseeable future. It might also be important to note that this car was called the "F1 Celica" overseas...something that may hint at something based off this design in the future.
