Making the LED meter for ST202 like Sunshine

mission Change to the Beams white meter from '96 Celica black meter And Install LED(Light Emitting Diode) in the reverse side of meter
Photo will be expanded if it clicks ST202 Beams White meter reverse side of meter	I was affraid to use my only one meter on that project Therefore I bought USED Beams white meter at Japanese Yahoo auction On the left photo you can see the white meter that i bought Yea it looks very good, I like white meter better than black one So I will try to make LED meter
dismantling	I dismantled meter to check whether It can be put some LED take off up-left side and up-right side screw you can see the inside of meter
take off tachometer	I want to attach LED in the reverse side of meter So I check whether it can take off the 3 screw on the reverse side of the tachometer This photo is after take off tachometer
general tachometer light mechanism	This photo is ST202 tachometer Please notice yellow arrow The meter light blub lights this plastics point and refract Because of using only 1 light blub, it is little dark
I could know that I will be able to install meny LED in the revers side of the meter
At first, I bought white LED at the electronic parts shop If it is passed the current which exceeds limit current to LED, It will be broken Therefor I have to know detail of using LED This time, I used white LED ( 3.6V , 20mA) Usually we use "Constant current diode" for LED It can make constant current even if the voltage changes But in the shop I went didn't have "Constant current diode" So I used Resistance
Connect LED and Resistance in series Please be careful to prevent mistakes LED direction and value of Resistance Б@Б@Б@R(resistance)={12V-(number of LED)*LED voltage}/LED current Use 3 LED.......R=(12[V]-3Б~3.6[V])/0.02[A] =60[Ohm].......Use 62[Ohm] Resistance Use 2 LED.......R=(12[V]-2Б~3.6[V])/0.02[A] =240[Ohm]......Use240[Ohm] Resistance Use 1 LED.......R=(12[V]-1Б~3.6[V])/0.02[A] =420[Ohm].......Use430[Ohm Resistance]
There is a direction to connect in LED LED has two wire, Please connect the longer one with plus If it reverse, LED is not light
1 LED, 430[Ohm] 2 LED, 240[Ohm] 3 LED, 62[Ohm]
solder socket	Let's install the LED I use light bulb socket for Power supply of 12V Photo is that I solder socket If it done, It can be parallel circuit
Outside is 12V, Inside is ground	LED have plus and minus, Please be careful You can see the photo of the place of 12V and Ground Left side is 12V and Right side is Ground
3 LED and Resistance 62[Ohm] supply of 12V	The photo is 3 LED and Resistance 62 and lighting[Ohm] Now there are only 3 LED, if it will good work, I install many LED By the way, If you want attach many LED, you make just parallel circuit Finaly I will attach them with adhesives I install it to my car and check working
Install my celica using 3 LED	Install 3 LED to my Celica Because my camera performance, It was not clear in the dark You can see the tachometer of 0 to 3 is lighting Lighting test was good , so I attach many LED
Final attach LED(Left) Final attach LED(Right) Attach the set of 3 LED and Resistance to light bulb socket And attach LED, Resistance and wiring with adhesives I used total 21 LED ( Set of Resistanse62[Ohm] and 3 LED ) * 7 parallel
Pikachuuuuu!!!	I checked all of LED working Wow It is very dazzling

Caution It is possible to change to Beams white meter from '96 meter But It is impossible to change to Beams white meter from '94 meter Because it is difference wiring between before '95,8 and after '95,8 meter How to install Beams white meter for before '95,8 Celica Replace turn the connector pin 10 connector From the left to the 4nd.........to 3nd 10 connector From the left to the 3nd.........to 2nd 10 connector From the left to the 2nd.........to 1nd If you replace turn so, It will work perfect
